will be, the joint States of America.

and afraid and uncertain about what we can attain to put their hands on the arc
of the past and curve it once more move forward.
The hope of
an improved day. It's been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we

We didn't
start with much money or many backings. Our movement was not produce in the entrees
of Washington. It began in the gardens of Des Moines.

not rotten from the Earth.
This is your
conquest. You did it because you know the pure size of the task that lies in
front.

For even as
we get pleasure from yourself tonight, we know the confronts that tomorrow will
transport are the most of our lifetime 2 wars, a planet in risk, the worst economic
disaster in a century.
Even as we rest
here tonight, we know there are courageous Americans rouse up in the rough
country of Iraq and the mounts of Afghanistan to danger their life for us.
There are
mothers and fathers who will lie wide awake after the kids fall sleeping and
speculate. How they'll make the advance or pay their surgeons bills or save
enough for their youngster's university education.
There's new
energy to tie together, new jobs to be generated, new schools to construct, and
threats to meet, coalitions to fix. The road ahead will be long. Our mount will
be sheer.
We may not
acquire there in one year or even in one term. But, America, I have never been
more confident than. I am tonight that we will obtain there. I assure you, we
as a populace will get there.
There will
be setbacks and fake starts. There are many who won't agree with every
conclusion or rule I make as leader. And we know the management can't solve
every trouble.
But I will
forever be truthful with you about the dare we face. I will pay attention to
you, especially when we oppose.
And, over
all, I will ask you to unite in the employment of remaking this state, the only
way it's been done in America for 221 years block by block, element by element,
calloused hand by calloused hand.
What start
21 months ago in the depths of coldness cannot end on this autumn night. This
conquest alone is not the modify we seek. It is just the possibility for us to
make that modify.
